I love breakfast, especially when it is like a dessert. I also love sweet so I decided to play around with the new Pepperidge Farm Apple Cinnamon Sweet Rolls and made a yummy quick dish with them to go with our breakfast. It is really easy to do and only took about 10 minutes to prep, and 15-20 minutes to bake – perfect for busy mornings. I also made Sunrise Smoothies to go with it which were packed with fruits, 100% juice, yogurt and almond milk for a great start to the day.
The whole family was in heaven. I wish I would have made more, my kids ate it so fast I hardly got any. 🙂 With how easy it was to put together, I will definitely be adding this into the breakfast rotation around here.
To start you are going to take the ingredients out of the can. You get four big rolls, apple filling and frosting. I love how much they give you! It works really well. Take three of the Cinnamon Rolls and unroll them and line up half of them on one end and leave them apart on the other end (it will look like a 3 tentacle octopus). I am doing this on a cookie sheet lined with a Silicone Baking Mat.
As you can see in the pictures above, on the end that is together, you will take the apple filling and spread it evenly. I also added some fresh cut apples that had been mixed with Cinnamon and Sugar. Take the three ends that are apart and braid them over the filling and securing the ends together and the end. I just left the sides open, but can try and secure them.
When you have the braid done and in place, you will drizzle caramel (I used salted caramel – yum) over the top, then you will sprinkle the remaining cinnamon and sugar apples on the top. I also sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on top of that (just a little). I looks SO GOOD! I couldn’t wait to get it in the oven. The house smelled so good while it was cooking too! I put it in at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes (you will want to check, but because of the braid it took a little longer to cook in the middle.
The smoothie was easy to make as well. We made it while the braid was baking and got the table set. Just take 1 cup of ice, 2 – 6oz containers of yogurt (I used peach and strawberry), 2 cups of Tropicana Orange Juice, 1 cup of Almond Milk, 1 peeled orange, and 2 cups of frozen mixed fruit and put into your blender. (I have a Ninja so I just set it for the smoothie setting). It turned out amazing!
I love how the Caramel Apple Braid turned out. It was so easy to make with the Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Rolls that I was able to find at Walmart. While I was there I also picked up the Tropicana Orange Juice and other ingredients for the Smoothie.
I would peel the apples next time before I make it, but other than that, it was perfect. It is really fun to play with and you can use any fruit (like all of the yummy berries that are out on display). I would love to hear what variations you did and how you liked it.
The Pepperidge Farm Sweet Rolls are great the way they were intended, but they are also very versatile allowing me to make many different recipes with them.
