My son had a Dinosaur birthday party. This was actually a lot of fun to plan and put together, so I wanted to share some of my favorite things from the party that we did. Today I am sharing the Dinosaur Lava Cake that we made for the cake. He didn’t want a big cake, so this is what we served, and it was a hit!
We decided to make them look like a volcano since it was centered around dinosaurs. These were fairly easy to put together and tasted so good!
Here is what we did to make the dinosaur lava cake:
We used a mini bundt pan to make mini bundt shaped brownies.
With the brownies cooled and out of the pan, you will put them flat side down on a plate.
Next, you will add some red frosting (you can buy it or make it).
After the frosting is on the brownie, you will then add a scoop of ice cream, caramel and chocolate toppings, and crushed Oreos. It all “melts” into this beautiful lava looking gooey delicious mess that is freaking amazing.
Make sure you wait to add the ice cream until right before you serve them, but you can have the brownies and frosting part done, and definitely have the Oreos done since a food processor is the best way to do those and it can be loud.
These are fantastic for a birthday party dinosaur cake, or to have as part of a fun themed dinosaur week with your kids. If you don’t want to do brownies, you can do chocolate cake and it will still be delicious. You can also add small dinosaurs at the base as a fun enhancement.
We also have Dinosaur Mason Jars, Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt, Dinosaur Rice Krispy Treat Eggs, and Dinosaur Fossil Rocks that we are sharing soon.
So many fun ideas! I would love to hear what your favorite Dinosaur birthday party ideas are. Leave a comment below.
