Homemade Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars Recipe
I have been making this recipe around Christmas (and only Christmas because I am terrible and not eating it lol) for years now, but I can’t remember where I got the recipe from. I wrote it down in my recipe book many years ago and honestly can’t remember – so I can’t take any credit for the recipe – but I don’t know who to credit either lol. Either way – It is so very yummy and you will quickly become addicted! What better combination is there besides peanut butter and chocolate, right?

FILLING:
- 2 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 1 cup margarine, softened
- 1 cup peanut butter (I like to use crunchy)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 cups of graham cracker crumbs (about 40 squares)
- 1 cup of chopped peanuts (or use crunchy peanut butter)
TOPPING:
- 1 12oz package of Chocolate Chips (semi-sweet, 2 cups)
- 1/4 cup Peanut butter
DIRECTIONS:
- Line a 9″x13″x2″ pan with tinfoil or parchment
- In a large bowl, mix the sugar, margarine, 1 cup peanut butter, and vanilla (this works great in your mixer)
- Stir in the cracker crumbs and peanuts (if you didn’t use crunchy peanut butter). The mixture will be stiff.
- Press mixture into the lined pan
- Put chocolate chips and peanut butter into glass microwave safe bowl
- Heat for 45 seconds
- Remove from microwave and stir ingredients together
- Heat for 45 seconds again
- Remove and stir ingredients (if they are done a third time is not needed)
- Heat for 45 seconds again
- Remove and stir, chocolate and peanut butter mixture should be melted
- Spread chocolate/peanut butter mixture over the top of the filling
- Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes, then remove and cut into squares (I keep mine in the garage because it is so cold here in the winter)
- Cover and refrigerate until chocolate is completely set (keep refrigerated)
- ENJOY!
If you try this recipe I would love to know what you think. It is one of our favorites!

I know I must make these. I have been looking for inspiration from Pinterest and this recipe totally fits the bill for holiday cookie recipes that fit our family.
Only question is, do you think I could use smooth peanut butter (kids have a weird food texture issue when it comes to chopped nuts and crunchy peanut butter), but they love Reese’s!?!

Hi Lauren
Thank you ๐ They are really good. Any of peanut butter works great. We have made it both ways. We love the crunch but it’s still great plain too. Let me know how it turns out ๐

I really enjoy making this at home, me and my grandchildren make this together and
sometimes we make this as gifts for our neighbors.
