I will honestly say I had never used Phyllo dough before, but when I saw it on clearance at Smith’s I knew I had to see what it was about. To be honest, I hated how touchy the dough was and how you have to keep it covered and wrapped and that you have to oil (or butter) every single skinny layer, but in the end it was all worth it. The Phyllo Beef Pot Pies recipe we made were very yummy and my kids loved them all the more because they were like “pockets” and easy for them to eat.
For the inside mixture we used beef roast and cut it into chunks, cooked it then added mixed veggies, cream of cheddar soup, and seasoning to taste. Remember, you have to butter or oil EACH layer of dough – and I also buttered the top. It really helped to “heal” the dough and meld everything together.
Phyllo Beef Pot Pies Recipe
Ingredients
- Phyllo Dough
- Chunked Steak or Roast cooked
- Cream of Cheddar Soup
- Mixed Veggies
- butter
Instructions
- Take beef roast or steak and cut it into chunks and cook it until done
- While it is cooking, mix together mixed veggies (frozen or canned), cream of cheddar soup, and seasoning to taste.
- When meat is finished, add to mixture.
- Take Phyllo dough and place layer on parchment. Butter top and then add another layer. Do this with about 10-20 layers (they are very thin), to desired taste.
- Once you have all the layers done and buttered or oiled, add a couple of spoonfuls of the mixture inside.
- Wrap Phyllo dough around mixture, one corner at a time, and butter top. It really helped to “heal” the dough and meld everything together.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 mins or until top is golden brown.

I love things baked in Phyllo dough..salmon is something that is fantastic that way.
Since having to go gluten free I think I am going to try using rice sheets to wrap and bake..
