Holiday cooking is so fun for me. I love being in the kitchen creating and making delicious meals for my family, but I don’t always have a lot of time to get everything done that I want. That is why one of my go-to’s for holiday meals is Hormel Cure 81 bone-in ham. This last weekend we had a holiday party with my family and we picked up a Hormel Cure 81 bone-in ham Cherrywood flavor and it was perfect! It tastes amazing and The glaze that was included added the perfect touch. It was so easy to prepare because it is precooked. I just had to heat the ham in the oven while I prepared our Scalloped potatoes with ham and cheese and it all worked out great!
Our family loves gathering around the table to enjoy a meal together and when I can serve something delicious and easy to prepare I get to enjoy it as well! I have my kids help me with the potatoes (they wash and peel them) while I get them ham in the oven heating. To make the scalloped potatoes with ham and cheese you will need about 10-12 potatoes, peeled and washed. Once you get them done, dice them and put them into a pot of boiling water for about 10 minutes or until tender. Drain the water and lay them out in a layer in the bottom of a casserole dish. I know that these are going to pair well with the ham for our holiday dinner.
Dice up 1 stick of butter and distribute evenly over the top. Mix 1/2 cup of milk and 2 -3 spoonfuls of flour and a little sour cream and blend. Pour over the potatoes, sprinkle diced ham and then sprinkle with cheese. Put it in the oven and bake them at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes to heat them through and melt the cheese. These are perfect to eat with the ham and add some rolls and salad to the mixture for a perfect dinner. Hormel Cure 81 bone-in ham and these scalloped potatoes with ham and cheese are the perfect combo and great for any holiday meal.
The dish turned out great and I love both the ham and potatoes together. They are a perfect pair! We got what we needed at Walmart before we headed out to my parents.
