My family loves seafood. Combine that with sausage, corn on the cob, and potatoes and you have a fantastic dinner. A Shrimp Boil is actually really easy to do and you will find that you will want to do it often because of how easy and delicious it is.
What you will need for your Shrimp Boil:
- 2 lbs of Kielbasa Sausage, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 5 lbs of small red/gold potatoes cut in half
- 6 ears of corn on the cob, cut in thirds
- 2-3 lbs of XL Shrimp (raw, deveined)
- 3 lemons, cut in half
- 1 bulb of garlic, cut in half (do not need to shell)
- 2 large onions, cut in half (do not need to shell)
- Butter (1 cup melted, 1 stick for serving)
- 1/2-1 cup Parsley (minced)
- 1 box of Zatarain’s Crawfish Shrimp & Crab Boil in Bag
- 1 container of Zatarains Crab Boil Seasoning
- 4 tbsp. Salt
The first thing you will want to fill a 42 qt pot half full of water and bring to a rolling boil. You may want to get a pot that has a built-in strainer – that will make this SO MUCH EASIER.
While you are waiting for the water to boil, you can get everything cut up like the sausage, potatoes, lemons, corn, garlic, onions, etc.

Once at a roiling boil, you will add the bag of Zatarain’s Crab Boil and 1/2-1 cup of the Zatarain’s Crab Boil seasoning (depending on how spicy you want it). As you add the different foods, use a big paddle or spoon to site things around to evenly season everything.
Now you will add 4 tbsp of salt, potatoes, garlic, lemon, and onion. Cook for 10 minutes.

Next you will add your corn on the cob and the kielbasa sausage and cook for 10 more minutes. Make sure to maintain a rolling boil.
Now it is time to add the shrimp. You will cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the shrimp look pink and curled. You do not have to thaw shrimp first.

Once everything is cooked, drain all the liquid from the pot. Then you will want to take about 1 cup of butter and melt it and pour it over the contents of the pot, and then add in the parsley to desired taste. Once it is mixed well, you will take the pot and dump it onto the table on a plastic tablecloth.
You will want to serve with cocktail sauce (for the shrimp), a stick of butter (for the corn), salt, pepper. You can also melt butter in dishes to dip the shrimp in.
If you are looking for a spicier dipping sauce you can take 4 tbsps of butter and 1 tbsp of the Zatarain’s crab boil seasoning and mix it.
