I was able to get a great deal on a big package of pork roasts (like $8 for 5 of them). I have really been craving honey ham and wanted to have it a little sweet so brown sugar was a must. I decided to do a little experimenting and I think it turned out amazing! My family must have liked it too because there was only a little Tupperware full left! lol.
This Brown Sugar & Honey Ham recipe is super easy and is great if you need to leave it to cook all day!
Brown Sugar & Honey Ham Recipe
Take a 2 lb pork roast and rinse it and put it in the slow cooker. Pour 1 1/2 – 2 cups of water in (be sure to move the roast around so water goes under it as well.
Next take about 1/2 cup of brown sugar and pour it all over the ham, you can even rub it in. I didn’t worry if there were lumps. Once they get hot enough, they break up.
Then I took (about) 2 tbsp of honey and drizzled all over the top and sides.
Put the lid on and let it cook for about 5-6 hours on low (or longer if you need, you may want to add a little more water just in case. If you can, flip it half way through cooking.
After several hours it should start to break apart easily. Once it is cooked enough, take a couple of forks or your tongs and break it up (as shown above).
I let it simmer for about another hour like this so it would absorb all of the liquid (honey and brown sugar glaze).
This is really good on rolls for a pulled pork sandwich, or just served with a veggie and potatoes. I had au gratin potatoes with our and it really was yummy!
