We love the Halloween season. Part of that is because 4 out of 6 members of our family have birthdays in October, and the other part is because Halloween is just so much fun! There are so many fun crafts and treats to make and my kids enjoy every minute of it. This week we made Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ghosts with Driscoll Berries. It was a lot of fun! Here is how we did ours:
First you will want to melt white chocolate. We used the candy melts, but you can use white bark, chocolate chips, or bakers chocolate. I recommend putting a glass safe baking dish over a pot of water. Turn the heat on to high to get the water in the pot to boil and the steam from the pot will heat the bottom of the glass dish that is sitting on top of it. This is called a boiler. You can add the chocolate at any point. I do it at the beginning so it can slowly melt instead of go into “shock” when you add it to a too hot dish. Stir constantly or you will have a burnt and yucky mess. You also don’t want to overheat the chocolate. Once all of the “lumps” are gone. Remove from glass dish from the heat (be very careful and use hot pads so you don’t burn your hands.).
Once you have your chocolate melted, you will want to take the strawberries and rinse them off and use a paper towel to dry them good. Line a cookie sheet with a piece of parchment paper, Silicone Baking Mat, or wax paper. This will keep the chocolate from sticking to things. To make your Halloween Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ghosts, Hold one strawberry by the stem (green leafy stuff) and dip it in the melted chocolate twisting it a little to cover it all and create a ghost tail at the end.
Lay the strawberries on the tray to let the chocolate set. I did a few of them, and then my kids wanted in on the action, even my 3 year old was dipping her own strawberries. It was a lot of fun and really cute.
We divided the strawberries up and let them each have a couple to decorate. They loved this part. We just used toothpicks and white and black frosting and let them go. (Note…my 3 year old was in the middle of giving herself a makeover with my makeup when we started this so that is why she is half red in the picture below, lol).
The toothpick makes it super easy to add small things like the eyes and mouth, but they also have really cute candy eyes that you can use.
These were really easy to make and will be super fun for parties or just because treats. My kids decorated and ate there’s before I could even get a picture. lol. They are really yummy and super cute! This is great alternative to traditional Halloween candy. As a mom of four, I know as well as anyone what it is like to have a kid hyped up on sugar. lol.

We went to Michael’s to get many of the supplies we used for this. They have a great selection of seasonal stuff like the mini brooms, table cloths, and foliage. We also were able to find the candy melts, frosting (in the tubes) and candy eyes and more. Driscoll berries are so yummy and really fresh. Our recipe is based on the one from Driscolls.com
We received coupons and a gift card in order to get the supplies needed. This did not affect our opinions and they are 100% our own. We only recommend products and services that we believe will be beneficial to our readers.
