My youngest loves Pigs in a Blanket so we decided to make them with a “twist” ;). These Twisty Pigs in a blanket are really easy to make and they turned out so good! If you are looking for a quick and easy recipe that takes a traditional meal and makes it fun and different, then this is perfect!
Quick and simple meals are always a bonus, and having something that my kids can help me make it, is an even bigger bonus. Sometimes it hard to decide what to have for lunch – we are either out and about, outside working, or doing something else. This makes having a quick meal that much more important.

INGREDIENTS:
3 hot dogs, cut into 4’s lengthwise. and then in half
4 slices of mild cheddar cheese, cut into strips (6 from each slice)
8 frozen rolls (thawed) or refrigerated biscuits, cut in half
Sauce
3/4 cup of Mayo
1/2 – 3/4 cup of Ketchup
1 tbsp of Mustard
Directions:
To make these you only need a few ingredients; hot dogs, cheese, and frozen rolls or refrigerated biscuits. You can have these made and on the table in about 20 minutes (not including thawing time, so plan ahead and take them out when you are putting away breakfast). It takes about 5-10 minutes to prep and put everything together and about 10-14 minutes to cook them.
First, you will take the rolls (thawed) and cut them into thirds. Then you will take two bun length hot dogs and lengthwise cut into halves, then lengthwise halves again and then in half. Making 16 pieces. Next, you will slice the cheese. Take a brick (we used a 2 lb one) and cut 4-5 slices. Or you can use cheese sticks and cut them into fourths. Now take these slices and cut them into about 5 pieces each (so you have about 16-20 pieces of cheese).
Once you have these ready, you will start making your Twisty Pigs in a Blanket. Take one of the pieces of dough and roll in between your hands (like you are making a snake) until you have a piece that is about 6-8″ long. Bring you back to your childhood and playing with play dough?? 😉 Put a piece of cheese with a piece of hot dog together and wrap the dough around it in a twist pattern. Pinch the ends together so they don’t come loose. Place them all on a baking sheet, slightly spaced. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-14 minutes or until the tops are lightly browned.

Don’t forget the sauce
While the Twisty pigs in a blanket are cooking, you will make the dipping sauce. To make the fry sauce (for dipping) you will mix 3/4 cup of Mayo, 1/2 – 3/4 cup of Ketchup, and 1 tbsp of Mustard together and stir (whisk) until blended. Put a couple of spoonfuls into the jar (cup or bowl) and then put the cooked Twisty Pigs in a Blank “head first”. This is a great way to serve them, especially to kids.

This is one of our go-to lunch recipes – but we also like to have it for dinner once in a while. The fry sauce is simple to make and tastes good with anything that you would normally use ketchup for. You need to try it with fries, tots, burgers, etc.
Here is the printable recipe for you
